Standard Insurance Included FREE
Five College Movers LLC makes every effort to avoid damage to your personal property. In the unlikely event of an accident Five College Movers offers a wide range of insurance options to our clients. Standard moving insurance is INCLUDED FREE with every quote that we issue. Additional insurance options are available and along with standard insurance, are described bellow.
Insurance Options
Standard insurance, Option A, is included FREE and is the default coverage applied on every move we perform. Those looking for further protection have the option of choosing additional valuation coverage through Five College Movers, or securing supplemental insurance through a 3rd party insurer. All options are described bellow. We are always available to discuss and further explain your insurance options. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

Description: |
This is basic insurance, and it is included FREE with every move. If your goods are damaged and/or lost, Five College Movers LLC maximum liability to you under this option is $0.60 per pound per article. If your goods are damaged or lost, you will be entitled to recover the lesser of the decrease in value of the item lost or destroyed, or $0.60 cents multiplied by the weight of the article(s).
To select this option, “Option A” must be checked on the Bill of lading contract. |

Option B |
“Declared Lump Sum Value” |
|
|
Description: |
Under this option, you declare a lump sum value for your entire shipment. Option B covers the cost to repair or replace, whichever is less, any household item that is damaged, lost or destroyed during your move, up to the dollar amount that you declare as the replacement value of your possessions. A cash settlement may also be offered, according to its current market value, not to exceed the shipment’s declared value. This option in not based by weight of shipment, but by actual declared value of shipment. You must properly value your shipment. Customers must declare total value of home contents at time of move or coverage will be denied. If your home contents are valued at $30,000.00 you must claim that amount. If you have grossly undervalued your shippment and are not properly covered, all claims will be denied. This option requires the customer to list any item with a value over $1,000 on the bill of lading, failure to do so will result in claims being denied for the item.

“Third Party Insurance” |
|

Description: |
Upon request Five College Movers LLC can arrange for additional/supplemental insurance coverage in an amount specified by you. This option is not Movers’ Liability, but an agreement between a licensed insurance company and you. A Certificate of Insurance will be provided to you with your Bill of lading. Certificate coverage is considered more comprehensive than valuation.

Excluded Items: Some items are excluded from coverage. They are listed below. |

- Particle board, pressed board, glue board, or any piece where natural wear and tear has compromised the piece and made it susceptible to damage - Items with existing damage - Previously repaired items - Items of extraordinary value (e.g., Jewelry, Art, etc) Please notify Five College Movers LLC if you have such an item prior to your move date. |
- Ready-to-assemble furniture - Items packed inappropriately by client - All Computers/Electronics not packed in original packaging - Fragile items (e.g., Glass, Pictures, etc) not packed by Five College Movers LLC - Five College Movers LLC reserves the right to inspect any and all boxes packed by the client prior to moving . |
Other Insurance Information:
- In the unlikely event of damage Five College Movers LLC will work quickly and in good faith to amicably resolve the situation.
- We take pride in the work we do. Five College Movers LLC makes every effort to ensure safe transport of your goods/items. In the unlikely event of an accident we will work quickly to solve, repair and reimburse any damage as outlined in the insurance coverage selected by the client.
- If no option has been selected at the start of the move, Five College Movers LLC will automatically apply Option A (Carriers Liability). This default is mandated by state law.
- All claims must be submitted to Five College Movers LLC within 10 days after the move.
- Five College Movers LLC is not obligated to write a check for the full declared amount. Repairing or replacing the item is always the first course of action. (Applies to Options A and B)
- Valuation does not consider sentimental value of your items. Valuation is based on current depreciated market value of the good/item in question as determined by Five College Movers LLC.
- Failure to list individual items of high value (over $1,000) on the bill of lading will result in all claims on item to be denied.
- Five College Movers LLC cannot change your Valuation options after the fact.
- Valuation is per piece, not per set, e.g., if one china plate is broken only that plate is subject to repair, replacement, or cash settlement, not the entire china set.
- Do not discard any damaged items. The burden of proof is on you, the customer.
- All charges must be paid to Five College Movers LLC prior to processing your claim.
